Southwest Missouri Takes a Major ICE STORM Hit Including Willard

January 12, 2007 was day one. Willard Fire Rescue responded to a record number of incidents as the Greene County 911 center stopped giving out incident numbers and tones. The 911 center would just give the information to the responding agency and let them go. Not all of the numbers are in but Willard may have responded to 70 plus incidents in the first five days.

Like Willard other districts in the county and southwest Missouri were so busy mutual-aid was hard to get. Willard had numerous structure fires, CO calls, and power lines down calls from ice covered trees falling.

Some of the note worthy incidents were; closing of station 2, Operating Station 1 and 3 for over a week without power, housing and feeding personnel from Willard for a week, having State wide mutual-aid from High Ridge F.P.D., Ozark F.P.D. and Little Dixie F.P.D in our stations for six days, a rescue of a person trapped in a house fire and many more.
